Scramble was released in 1981 and was the first arcade game I played. It was the worlds first multi-level shoot-em-up and a genuine classic.
It's also damn hard! Frogger was released about the same time and the hardware has only minor differences to Scramble.
Not only can we fit a whole arcade PCB in an FPGA, now we can fit the vector monitor as well ... sort of.
This design can drive a standard VGA display, but it requires an external memory device.
A guest project by Arnim Läuger. A PacMan style maze game (eat the dots, avoid the insects) with some added extras including revolving wall sections.
According to KLOV this game ranks #49
in popularity based on ownership records.
The original 8080 hardware from long ago recreated by Daniel W.
Other games that ran on similar hardware are also supported,
for example Sea Wolf and Dog Patch.
